Weekly Reflection #2:
During my second week of senior project, I continued to learn more information in the field as well as apply that knowledge by telling a patient what stretches and exercises they needed to do during their appointments. At this point, whenever a patient that has been in the office more than once has an appointment and sits down to talk to Diane, I know their injury and what has been bothering them, as well as different exercises and recovery techniques to give them. Although I am not allowed to perform any of the stretches or work any of the machinery, the shadowing aspect has allowed me to take down lots of notes, as I usually write at least a page of notes per day. These notes consist of new exercises and new injuries, as well as adding more descriptions and changes to many of the patient’s injuries in the past. During this upcoming week, I will be having a quiz on the anatomy of the knee, which I have been studying for during my free time in the office as well as at night and during my days off. I feel that I should get another 100% on this quiz like the last one, since I have payed a lot of attention to it, as well as study for it.
This weeks time in the office will allow me to step away with a lot more information than the first week, since I am becoming a little more involved in the office. Although Diane only limits me to one patient, I am still getting that experience and knowledge I need for my future studies in the field. I am also learning many conversational skills, since there is a lot of down time when the patients are in the office, which allows me to strike up a conversation with some of the patients that come in a lot. Usually I sit back and listen, but other times I will jump in and try to get involved in the conversation. I continue to achieve my goals everyday, since I am learning a lot, as well as watching Diane treat her patients. I am looking forward to the last week and a half, and am going to get as much information as I can to further my knowledge in this field!
